Walt Disney World
Walt Disney--The Man
Trip Planning Tips
First, some general information. Guests can make Fastpass+ reservations 60 days in advance, if staying at a Walt Disney Resort Hotel, or 30 days in advance if you are staying off Disney Property. Guests are allowed 3 Fastpass+ reservations to start out with, so you will need to plan what parks you'll be in what days, and then consider what attractions are most important. After guests have used their 3 original Fastpass+ reservations (or the time of the final Fastpass+ has passed) then guests are allowed additional Fastpasses, 1 at a time, with reservations being made at the in-park Fastpass+ Kiosks. The additional Fastpass+ reservations can be made at a different park than the days original Fastpasses were for.
The Fastpasses that disappear first are the big E-Ticket attractions and new attractions; so don't be surprised when there are no Fastpasses for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Epcot and Hollywood Studios use a tiered Fastpass+ list: you may choose 1 from the top tier and 2 from the 2nd tier; so you will not be able to have a Fastpass+ to both Soarin' and TestTrack (but TestTrack does have a single rider line which helps with that attraction).
Now for the tips:
~Make your initial 3 reservations for early in the day. The sooner you can use the Fastpasses the sooner you can get more Fastpass+ reservations from a park Kiosk.
~During initial selection choose the combination that works the best, even if it's not exactly what you want, then you can go back in an edit each one individually--time or location.
~In the parks, only 1 member of your party needs to go to a Fastpass+ kiosk to make reservations for the entire party of portions of the party. So send 1 guest to get Fastpasses while everyone else takes a restroom break or gathers the stroller.
~Often you can find Fastpass+ availability within 5 minutes. Meaning, I arrive at the kiosk at 5:04pm, consider available attractions and see that Haunted Mansion has a Fastpass+ starting at 5:10pm. I select the Fastpass+, meet-up with my hubby and kids at the stroller in front of the Carousel, use the Tangled restrooms as we walk by, park the stroller by Haunted Mansion, check our clocks (5:11pm), and we're good to go! Our family of 7 was able to use between 7-9 Fastpass+ reservations in Magic Kingdom during multiple days of our trip.
~Download the MyDisneyExperience app. You can check for availability and make changes to any Fastpass+ reservations, up until day of, from the app. Our family has made changes the night before as we look over the next days itinerary and do some last minute planning. However, once you've reached the day the Fastpasses are reserved for, you can only make changes at a park kiosk.
